Join us at Kakivak Association, where your experience in business development can directly contribute to the success and growth of Inuit businesses across the Qikiqtani Region. We are on the lookout for a dedicated Business Development Officer who is passionate about supporting community growth and wellbeing through Inuit entrepreneurship.
WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR
- Individuals with a post-secondary degree or diploma in Commerce, Business Administration or Community Economic Development; equivalencies may be considered.
- Five years of related work experience is essential, ideally in business development and counselling. Experience with non-profit, agency or Inuit organizations in Nunavut is an asset.
- Experience assisting with or reviewing funding applications, grants, loans, proposals or contracts (including providing recommendations and follow-up support.
- Strong business acumen, communication, interpersonal and relationship-building skills, with critical and analytical thinking and strong organizational/planning abilities.
- Strong administrative skills and technical skills, including Microsoft Office, bookkeeping software, databases and reporting.
- In-depth knowledge of Inuit values, culture, language and traditions. Fluency in Inuktitut is a strong asset.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Support Inuit-owned businesses and entrepreneurs from start-up through growth and expansion.
- Provide business advice and guidance on planning, financing, financial management, marketing, procurement, and regulatory requirements.
- Build relationships with clients, community partners, funders, public sector organizations, Inuit organizations and other stakeholders.
- Assess client needs, develop recommendations, and support funding applications and investment decisions.
- Manage projects and monitor funded businesses to support successful outcomes.
- Mentor colleagues and contribute to improving programs, services, and processes.
- Promote Kakivak’s programs and business support through community outreach, public events, workshops, seminars and seminars throughout the Qikiqtani Region.
COMPENSATION
Salary Range of $ 98,769.53 to $ 123,461.89
Northern Living Allowance of $28,925
Benefits include: Vacation Travel Allowance, Health & Dental Plan, and Pension Plan
